Hair Color: White Eye Color: Green Attire: Ascalon wears mostly white clothing, when in a casual type attire. His shirt is split along the sides to expose “skin”, but mainly to allow a good air flow. He wears a white robe over that, but leaves it open and at his elbows. His shorts continue the trend of being white and he is often seen wearing sandals. The whole motif of how he dresses casually is breathing and air flow. He tied a chain around his neck, which bears a small metal ball at the end. Abnormalities: A Star Shaped birthmark on the left side of his neck. BACKGROUND Sand. Heat. Everything that embodies a desert city is what Ascalon Highwind Helios was born in to. His parents were fairly wealthy, so he didn’t have to worry for much. Not much to struggle with. He had a rather normal childhood growing up in the Capital city of the Alabasta Kingdom. Ascalon’s parents loved him dearly, as he was their only child. The only one they could have, for that matter. His mother was, usually, infertile. This made Ascalon somewhat of a miracle child. His childhood was about as “boring” as a normal childhood can be. His father taught him how to survive in the real world and, partly, how to fight with a spear. Other than that, nothing interesting really ever happened. That is, until he turned 15. About a month after Ascalon’s 15th birthday, some thugs decided that Ascalon’s father was too wealthy and that he should give some of his wealth to them. The father breathed his last breath when he tried to turn the thugs away. Ascalon’s mother tried to stop them, but she suffered the same fate as her husband. When the young boy stepped in, he was injured as well. Quite heavily. He wished for one thing, to be strong enough to defend those he cared about. He awoke to the sound of someone asking him if he wished for the power he so sought. The answer was obvious. The next time Ascalon’s eyes opened, it was about a week later and in a foreign place. His body was… different. The man who had rescued him had made him stronger, made him better. All he had to do was put it to use. Ascalon spent years perfecting his combat arts, as well as attuning himself to his cybernetics. After the man who helped him died, Ascalon took up the calling of a fighter for hire (with the stipulation of refusing to do evil). Now, he ventures the seas, hoping to find a crew he can pledge to. The shaft of his spear is completely black, though has a crimson band that wraps around the shaft and ends on the base. Both ends of the spear have a point. The main, larger, end has what looks like black Dragon wings. The spear blades are, to put it simply, bladed so as to allow Ascalon to stab and slash, if need be. Non-weapons A mask ABILITIES Busoshoku Haki: Another form of Haki that allows the user to create a force similar to an invisible armor around themselves. This armor can protect the user from attacks and push aggressors away. Similar to Tekkai, precious few can overpower the defenses of a Busôshoku Haki-user, as demonstrated by Luffy striking Marigold hard enough with Gear 2 moves to send her reeling, and Kizaru piercing through Marco with his lasers; it is currently unknown as to what extent or to how long can a proficient user maintain this effect. With training, it can be further honed into a weapon with which to strike others, like the Kuja's arrows. This type of Haki enhances the power of any attack, be it melee or ranged, and also allows the user to bypass the powers of a Devil Fruit user, striking the user's human body beneath whatever protection the Fruit may provide, even in the case of body-altering Devil Fruits such as Paramecia or Logia users. RACIAL FEATURES Eyes: Ascalon’s eyes have been replaced with cybernetic eyes. His replaced eyes allow him to follow his targets much easier. The eyes are tied into a “band” that slides out of hiding in his hair. The band, when out, covers the top of his forehead, but then expands to become a face cover. The face cover is mainly to keep things out of his eyes when he jumps, and doesn’t obstruct his vision, thanks to the tie-in to his eyes. Appears natural, from afar, but up close, people can see cross hairs. Arms: Ascalon’s arms have been replaced with cybernetics, much like (just about) the rest of his body. They were built to resist the stress they’re put under from wielding a spear in midair, as well as the shock they receive from the landing. His arms allow him to be about one and a half times as powerful as the average human. He can push boulders around, with much stress. His shoulders have small flaps that he uses to effect his trajectory in air. They appear natural. Legs: Ascalon’s legs had the most time spent working on them. The vast majority of what Ascalon can do stems from his leg augments. His legs have been enhanced in such a way as to allow Ascalon to leap into the air at a maximum height of 75 feet. They’ve been reinforced to handle the shock of landing from such a height. To add to that ability, they allow him to run slightly faster than the average human. They appear to be natural. Torso: Ascalon’s torso was, for the most part, replaced with cybernetics. His lungs were enhanced so as to allow him to maintain consciousness with minimal oxygen for quite some time, and no oxygen for about an hour. His torso was enhanced to be able to withstand the beating it might take from the jumps he does in combat, as well as combat itself. On his back, Ascalon has small flaps he can open or close to change his trajectory mid-flight. Appears natural. Light Aerial Propulsion Devices: Ascalon had very light "jets" of sorts installed into his calves. They are hidden inside his legs, but allow him to descend much faster than just free falling. Fast, accurate descent is, for the most part, what they are used for. He can, if need be, use them for ground maneuvers, like dodging. They allow him to move at 20 mph, but only in short bursts. Wings: Ascalon had a set of fold-able, removable "Angel Wings" installed. They contain very similar jets to what are found in his legs, but also allow for gliding. They are both made of extremely light, but tough metal. Removing them is quite easy as well, but only Ascalon (or a mechanic) can do it. The wing span is roughly 10 feet, but can fold down to be manageable while not in use. He can wrap them around his body to use them as a shield if he needs, though he almost never does this. Auditory Adjustment: Ascalon had his ears modified so as to allow him to adjust his own hearing, to a degree. His ears can now be adjusted so as to be able to perceive sounds at extremely high and low pitches. The low end of the spectrum is a little foggy as far as if it'll work or not, but the higher end is much more possible. Meaning, basically, that he can hear dog whistles (if need be) or even the singing of sea folk, which would otherwise be painful for someone like him to listen to. This modification allows him to hear decently underwater as well. Another plus side is that he doesn't have to deal with his ear drums popping when he jumps really high. Much like any cyborg mods, they can be shorted out. Aquatic Systems: Ascalon recently had a few things added to himself/modified to allow for sustained life underwater. The jets on his wings and legs were modified to work underwater as a propulsion system (aside from traditional swimming). He had a system installed that allows him to breathe underwater for a much longer time than normal humans (a day is now quite easy for him, the upper limit is 3 days). He does have to return to the surface (or anywhere with oxygen readily available) to continue living. With this, he also had a system installed that allows him to dive extremely deep without feeling the effects of the water's pressure on himself.
