It only stands to reason, then, that he despises a pirate like Rei who manages to escape capture and seeks to personally bring an end to her. There are few pirates he sets his personal sights on. To make matters worse, Rei is not only a pirate, but from a family of troublemakers with her father also acting as a former pirate/revolutionary, giving Jean another strike against her. On the reverse side, Jean is everything Rei hates about the Marines, blindly loyal and a killer hiding behind a mask of justice. It only seems logical these two wouldn't get along, but with Rei now on her way into the Grand Line, I was thinking maybe they could cross paths at some point and have Rei live up to her reputation of pulling another great escape and earning herself a rival/enemy in Jean. Maybe we can build on that and do something epic later like have Rei get captured and escape (let Jean's sadism come out) or get seriously injured, ect.
