But there is one other way to bring about his own personal wrath - capture or kill a member of his crew and you better beware. Doing that is the same as declaring war. Lao Hu's greatest enemy however isn't just the World Government, but the Marine responsible for killing his former Captain, Katsuro Satsuki. It was only after he rose to infamy as a Yonkou that they met up, meeting to discuss a deal on behalf of Fishman Island. Lao Hu, motivated by his revolutionary ideals, swore he would protect Fishman Island. Since then the two have maintained a friendly relationship, but he's aware she sees him as a rival in Fishman Karate and in his own way he encourages her to succeed - but he wouldn't go easy, either. Like her father, Rei is known as something of a terror among the Marines, with a deep-seeded hatred for the World Government and it's institution of things like slavery. It's a trait that both she and many of her crew share, which is probably why she demonstrates a great deal of respect for Lao and his goals. While I don't see her submitting to anyone's rule as a pirate, I can see her making friends with Lao, due to their similar views towards to the World Government. I was hoping that maybe after they got to know each other, Lao could catch on that Rei is actually Katsuro's daughter and give her the truth about who he was and why he left her and her mother as a child, as a means of protecting them, because of his position as a revolutionary. Sort of answering something that has kind of been bugging her for a number of years and kind of something to do down the road. Maybe for the moment have them end as friends when they cross paths, since I can't see many reasons Rei and Lao would be enemies or rivals, since she kind of knows what it's likes to be an outcast and mistreated, so is respectful of others despite their race and because she has probably heard of Lao's reputation as someone whose honorable. At age five, four years before Lao joined the neptune army, she joined the fishman karate dojo and began training. She looked up to the elder students and aimed not to be as good as them, but better. She was a bit of a prodigy when it came to fishman karate, perhaps due to breeding as most of her family had been masters. From this she had met and had some knowledge of Lao and his brother. Plus she is a shark fish woman so would likely have been trained in the shark techniques of fishman karate with them or perhaps even by them. She would likely have been one to perhaps suggest he join something like the Neptune Army if he was looking for a calling as she herself was going to eventually join the Ryugu Guard. Later, the ryugu kingdom would become aware that a fishman was one of the yonkou and was against the marines and world kingdom. The ryugu kingdom's citizens were always being pestered in some way by the marines and world government, e.g. kidnapping mermaids. They would also desire some way to protect themselves from pirates. As a former acquaintance of Lao and as someone sent on missions like this by the royal family Sakana was sent to negotiate with Lao in order to gain the protection they desired and offer help. From this the two could become allies, but also due to being both trained by the same people in the same way they might also become friendly rivals. [/style]
