Among countless footsteps, loud chatter and bright store windows, anyone could lose themselves in the colorful mass. Here, in an enormous Megamall encompassing an entire island, even a noblewoman dressed in black Lolita fashion could blend in without anyone taking much note. And that was exactly what had happened. Lucia von Frevel, a former noble, had recently started a new life as a pirate. Her first plan had been to head to the famous city of Loguetown, but a sudden storm had forced her ship to dock at La Terre Achats. However, in this case it had turned out to be a blessing. Such weather was perfect for touring the mall and shopping until the sun went down.
Just few minutes ago, Lucia had found a magnificent jewel store with more gems and glimmer than she had ever seen. A mildly overweight, balding clerk with possibly the biggest nose of all time was busy presenting her with dozens of boxes with neatly arranged necklaces. Lucia was evaluating one of them against the light. After a moment of pondering, she placed it down and smiled at the clerk. "This one is quite nice, but it needs something to go with it. Could I see your finest rings next, please?" The clerk nodded enthusiastically and rubbed his hands together. "Of course, young lady. Just a moment." Taking his precious boxes with him, he waddled away.
Soon, the store clerk stormed back, huffing with sudden irritation. "Hey! Give them back!" His face turned red as he tried to keep himself from shouting. It wasn’t all that successful. "There are seven necklaces missing. Give them back at once!" Lucia only tilted her head, giving the clerk an innocent and puzzled look. "I didn’t take anything... Perhaps you simply misplaced them?" The clerk wasn’t happy with the answer and turned even redder. "Don’t play dumb with me! Jewelry doesn’t just disappear into thin air! Security!" Within a moment, a buff man in a white and blue uniform arrived to the scene. The clerk immediately proceeded to explain the situation with quite colorful language.
Lucia kept her cool and remained silent, but deep down she was smiling deviously. The clerk was absolutely right in his suspicion, she had taken the necklaces when he had glanced away, but he would never be able to prove it. If by some dumb chance they happened to find them, she could always claim that the clerk had dropped them himself. After hearing the short and exaggerated version of the theft, the guard faced the small girl and scratched the back of his head. "Eh, sorry about this, but I need to search you." Despite his size and physique, he seemed to be quite a timid guy, obviously uncertain how to handle the situation.
However, Lucia didn’t mind. She approached the guard with a coy smile and guided his arm to her chest. "Please, be gentle with me~ Mufufufu~" The confused guard could feel a huge sweat drop forming, but resolved to carry out his duty regardless. Lucia bit her lip to hold back soft moans while the man patted through her dress. Her mind quickly wandered onto hazy, pleasant images. Enchanted by her beauty, this handsome man would wrap his big, strong arms around her, embrace her softly and whisper- "Nope, the kid doesn’t have anything extra under her clothes." The guard noted while stepping away. Lucia’s daydream was shattered with a violent twitch and her eyes lit up with a crimson glow...
"Insensitive swine!" -SMACK!-
Approximately half a second later, the guard rocketed through the store window with a hand-shaped imprint on his cheek. Lucia took a deep breath and subdued the remaining anger before turning to the visibly shaken clerk and smiled politely. "Now that our misunderstanding has been cleared, I have no further business with you. Have a nice day." The poor guard lying in the glass shards, on the other hand, only received a venomous glare while she walked past him. Any urge to help the injured man was quickly pushed aside by the realization that people were staring at her... Like she was some sort of monster... She had caused quite a scene, hadn’t she? Lucia just smiled and kept walking.
It felt so devilishly delightful to be the center of attention.

A stormy day. Not uncommon in a world dominated by the seas. The infamous man, Nanashi, walked through the giant complex, scanning around the area for anything of interest. He had his men off shopping for supplies and equipment, so he was merely out to procure a few personal items, and perhaps see something interesting.
In fact, just such a thing had caught his eye. A seemingly one woman, in very fancy gothic lolita clothing, very obviously of high quality, who had managed to pilfer several items from a high-end jewelry store without being successfully being proven guilty. As she exited the store, Nanashi walked past her, speaking as he stepped. "That was quite impressive, miss. Do you mind if I ask precisely how you managed to successfully do that? Depending on your answer, you might be of particular interest to me."
Nanashi grinned under his mask, simply standing with his back to her. It was obvious that many people were looking at him, what with being a pirate known the world over, but he wasn't fond of taking away the limelight from the lady. He preferred to let others take glory, and only making a spectacle when he needed to.

Lucia stopped when a new voice suddenly addressed her. This time, however, it was a pleasant surprise. A quiet giggle escaped her mouth as she lapped up the compliment. Ah, it was so very nice when people noticed. Glancing over her shoulder, she slowly turned her head just enough to see the dark figure behind her. She had been so focused on basking in the attention that she hadn’t even noticed the man before. Much to her dismay, the on-lookers shifted their stares on him as well. She couldn’t help but feel that she was left in the man’s shadow, which also happened quite literally because of the size difference.
However, like a proper noblewoman, she hid her dismay behind a small smile. "Why thank you, good sir." The question elected a dark snicker as she glanced at the countless glass shards twinkling on the floor. "Mufufufu~ I’m simply stronger than I appear." For a moment, she felt like the man had caught her red-handed, but she wouldn’t have been a very good thief if she had just admitted it. Instead, she calmly brushed her long twin tail behind her back with a nonchalant comment. "And I’m quite skilled with my hands. Many don’t realize what I can do before I’ve already done it." She turned fully towards the man, smiling mysteriously. Beneath the smile, she was wondering what such a man could want from her.
"Does that answer your question, mister? Or perhaps you desire to know more..." Her eyes glimmered mischievously as she stepped closer. "...about me? Mufufufu~"

Raising his left arm out to chest-height at his side, he flicked his wrist, and a short wisp of wind circled around the duo, before every other person in the building seemed to disappear. As well, to the outside world, it had appeared that the duo had disappeared. remaining still, Nanashi spoke, though his voice was low, and seemed to come from right beside Lucia's ear, despite there being at least two feet of space between them.
"The answer you gave was not a bad one, but it was not what I sought. Now, you are within a world of my creation, where the rules are decided by myself. I would appreciate it if you would simply cooperate for now, and save semantics for later. Being in a public place like this is as a Sword of Damocles for someone such as myself."
His voice trailed a bit, alternating sides of her head between sentences, whilst his tone and body language gave nothing. Truly, he seemed to exist as a being of no emotion, which was a great feat in and of itself.

When the scenery around them just suddenly disappeared, Lucia took a startled step backwards. What did that man do? Upon hearing the man’s explanation, she gasped silently before nodding in defeat. "Very well..." So, he really had caught her red-handed. However, deep down she did briefly wonder what could make a man like this feel so threatened. It was unfortunate she wasn’t in a position to ask such a bold question out loud. Remaining quiet, Lucia reached into her long, thick twin tails and carefully pulled out one necklace after another from between the golden strands. Getting things in and hidden was easy, but retrieving them without getting anything dangled tended to be a challenge.
It took a moment to get everything out. Presenting the jewelry to the mysterious man, Lucia smiled deviously. "That guard was so fascinated with my body that he forgot to check everything." Her gaze instinctively focused on the spot where he had been before the world around them had vanished. "As for what happened to him..." A purple aura flickered around her while her eyes gleamed with ominous red. For a short moment, she spoke with three different voices. "He said too much and paid for it." Closing her eyes and taking a deep breath, she dispelled the last remains of the hellish anger. She mentally swore she was over that little incident now.
This was no time to be distracted after all.
Faking a coy smile, Lucia fluttered her eyes and resorted to her well-practiced, childishly innocent voice. "Now... May I ask what got such a big and powerful man so interested in poor, little me?" Her eyes narrowed accusingly, though her tone remained as polite as ever. "Are you, by chance, some sort of detective, hm?" Deep beneath the calm façade, she was getting ready to defend herself in case this situation turned unfavorable. Getting caught here would’ve ended her new life all too soon and she couldn’t have that. However... She wasn’t really sure if she wanted to try and bite such an intimidating man.

Nanashi gave a chuckle, still showing no emotion or movement. "I am no such. I am a pirate, in fact, one of renowned infamy. I am rather surprised that you have not heard of me. With how the World Government dramatizes things, the mask I bear is as the face of the devil himself. Indeed. you stand before the Yonkou, Nanashi. A pleasure to meet you. Now, if you would do me the same honor, and inform me of your name?" He spoke, a smirk on his face below the mask.
It was rare for Nanashi to take interest in someone like this, but something seemed different, off, about this girl. There was much more than meets the eye. Mystique, sophistication, and something else. It was decided. He would recruit the lady to his crew. "As well, do you seek companionship in your travels? For my crew would benefit greatly to have someone of your grace and sophistication onboard my ship."

Much to Lucia’s visible relief, the man turned out to be the exact opposite of what she had worried, not a man of law but a pirate. How wonderfully lucky. She could breathe a little easier now that she knew her journey wasn’t threatened. However, what he said next got her curious. He didn’t quite look like any devil or demon she knew. Lucia’s eyes widened at the title. This man was one of the legendary four emperors? Since she had gotten into the world of pirates just recently, her knowledge on who they were exactly was naturally bit lacking, but she would have plenty of chances to amend that.
When the man asked for her name, the noblewoman pinched the sides of her dress and introduced herself with a polite curtsey. "My name is Lucia von Frevel. It’s a pleasure to meet you, Yonkou Nanashi." The sudden offer broke her composure briefly and she stepped back in disbelief, blushing if only for a moment. Did... Did this man just ask her to join his crew? To be so readily accepted by a man who held such a famous title... Slowly, a mysterious smile returned to her features. This was her chance to move forward in the world, wasn’t it? Her dear family would be so very proud.
Suddenly, the small, young woman stepped right next to the Yonkou and reached to grasp his powerful arm with her petite hands. She looked up to him with glimmering eyes and smiled softly. "Oh, I would be honored to become your companion, milord." Unfortunately, Lucia had slightly misunderstood the offer. Her gaze turned empty as she quickly lost herself to a lovely daydream... Dressed in the finest white, she stood on the deck of a magnificent ship when a familiar voice called her name. A dark-clad man approached her, discarded his mask and lifted her on his arms while the sound of wedding bells echoed somewhere in the distance.
A content sigh escaped her lips and the faint blush returned to her pale cheeks.

Nanashi grinned beneath his mask. Everything was going smoothly, even moreso than planned. He was steadily amassing his forces, recruiting new, talented individuals, and soon, he'd be ready to put his grand plan into motion. But for the time being, he simply had to prepare. Prepare for something that will rock the world.
Back to the events around him, Nanashi returned his focus to the young lady. "Ah, refreshingly cooperative. My last recruit was not quite so agreeable. But alas, there is one more thing before I can allow you to join my crew." He said, a bit of venom in his voice, to test her response. "I shall need to know what you are capable of doing that I cannot find elsewhere. I do not appreciate common talents, and as such expect a unique and useful skill from every member of my crew."

The noblewoman was dragged out of her pink daydream when the man spoke again. It sounded like he had quite high standards, but that only gave Lucia confidence. Certainly this man was a real emperor, one who didn’t converse with just anyone. Well, she would earn her place as his loving wife and she knew just what talent would grant her that. A mysterious smile snuck on her lips as she looked up. "Tell me, Milord, have you heard of the medical prowess of the von Frevel family?" While she knew fairly well how far their negative reputation had reached, she wasn’t certain if people other than nobles and some pirates knew about their talents.
At any rate, this was her chance to spread the positive fame of her dear family.
Lucia’s eyes glimmered with confidence as she spoke about her family. "We tread the path between life and death, learning from both. Our knowledge of healing is beyond human understanding. For us, there is no such thing as a permanent injury or an incurable disease." Naturally, she had been raised to have utmost pride in her family, no matter what others thought about them. What mean whispers called demonic healing, she regarded as perfectly natural medical talent. Especially her grandfather, Vampire Jones back in the day, had been well-known for his ability to heal anything his crew suffered.
Smiling widely enough to reveal her sharp fangs ever so slightly, Lucia slowly stretched her fingers. "My talents simply are not from this world. You may search for a hundred years, Milord, but you will never find another doctor like me." She glanced away and for a short mutter, her tone was bit solemn. "Not since Grandfather Jonathan decided he liked the world beyond the veil more than this one..." However, she wasn’t sad about it in a way most humans would’ve expected. Her grandfather was dead, yes, but in her family that had never been a problem....
Talking about her family had simply made her miss them.

Nanashi loosed a laugh, surprisingly loud enough to be audible to Lucia, and without his echoing ventriloquism, giving away his true location behind her. Of course, it was not his true laugh, but a veiled alteration, to the tone of a muffled "Kehehehe." He was fairly surprised with himself, but equally surprised at what she said. He'd assumed he'd simply misheard her before, that he'd encountered one from that family, but she'd reaffirmed what his ears had caught. Indeed, he seemed to be blessed by the very devil he'd been likened to. "You surprise me yet again. To think that I would encounter another of that family, cursed as myself. Yes, I know well of your family, especially of your dear grandfather. Though I suspect that, if he were still among us, he would know naught of me." He laughed again, walking out in front of her, manipulating his power just so to sweep the heat away from her, causing a chill about her person, and causing his visage to waver.
With a nod of his head to the side, he began to speak again, his face entirely hidden from her few by the solid side of his mask. "If you bear even half of the skill held by your grandfather, you have more than enough. You have earned a place among the Devil's men. Don't make me regret it." He smirked, still hidden by the mask, as he turned his head back away from her. "Gather what you must, then head to the docks. Do not make me wait. You shall know my ship when you see it."

Lucia was caught somewhat off-guard by Nanashi’s reaction. There was a brief laugh, like a quiet echo that came from behind her. More than the odd direction, Lucia was left wondering if she had said something foolish… Luckily, that worry didn’t last very long when the masked man spoke up, surprising her with his knowledge. "You have met Grandfather? Ah, I must ask about that the next time I see him." Even though the infamous man had been dead and buried for a long time, Lucia spoke as if she could just visit him like a child seeing any normal grandparent.
The blonde girl fell silent when she felt the temperature drop and cold whisper sneak up on her. However, instead of even shivering, Lucia closed her eyes and smiled, like she was enjoying the sensation. "Mufufufu… Your presence even feels like him…" Sighing contently, she allowed herself to treasure the moment just a bit longer. "The chill of grave… Just like back home… Thank you." She was certain this had been the man’s doing, just like the world around them disappearing, but she thought it was to make her feel comfortable. After all, he must have known of the deep connection the family shared to the world beyond. Perhaps it was even his way of showing affection.
Ah, so thoughtful of him… What a wonderful husband he’ll be…
When Nanashi confirmed that the noblewoman had gotten a place in a real pirate crew and warned her not to disappoint him, Lucia turned her back to him and nodded, confidence coming into her voice. "My family has told me I have taken after Grandfather, but I am not going to simply remain in his shadow." She glanced over her shoulder with the exact same ominous smile and ghastly glow in her eyes that her Grandfather had in his old bounty poster. For a fleeting flash, they looked like the same person. "I will surpass him, even if it takes a hundred years and a thousand deaths." It wasn’t boasting, but a promise of a proud von Frevel.
Suddenly, a little, pink idea also formed in Lucia’s mind. She carefully leaned closer, trying her best to be seductive, while coating her voice in the sweetest honey. "Oh, but I hope you will find the time to personally show me around your ship, or at least direct me into your quarters, Captain~" Little by little, she would crack that emotionless shell and reveal the loving man beneath it. Then, they could live happily ever after, just like in all the stories she had read.
