~A Little About You~
History:
Calico has two main wishes: To explore the world , and find a cure for his mother's illness in the vast, largely unknown (for him, at least) stretch of the Grand Line. For him, the One Piece, which his father had told him was a boundless amount of treasure, was only a bonus he would obtain ; used more or less so that no one on his island would ever have to suffer from poverty again.
The village where Calico grew up in was the only population in a small, rather remote island, at which most of the residents were poor. Resources were scarce, mainly due to harsh and generally cold climates, bearing in mind that the island was located not just a little bit to the north (kind of like Russia irl, in comparison of positions).
Since as long as the then five-year old Calico could remember, his father, Dempsey Jack, had always been on and off the island to 'do his job and make money so that not only they could eat, but the neighbors as well.' For all it mattered, the concept of his dad raiding ships (and more importantly sharing his share to others living on the island) had always been justified by the village, and little Calico grew up with an unshakeable belief that the true way of a pirate was to help people, as well as that ways were often justified by ends. Calico basically formed an Ideology that as long as he shared his riches that he was able to do whatever he wanted.
Dempsey himself had never been home all that often, but whenever he was, he would always share the tales of his adventures to Calico; greatly impressing and inspiring the child to follow in his father's footsteps. After all, what job could be better than one that involved adventures done in a twisted sense of heroism?
Though he idolized his father, Calico had a much stronger bond with his mother. They were together through thick and thin while Dempsey was away. His mother worked as a bar maid for the island which was to put it lightly, not the most ideal profession. She had to put up with scum day in and out - some being criminals others just being drunk idiots; with little pay to compensate the hardships.
Years passed by after his father's departure for the Grand Line, and Calico and Annette's lives were nothing but struggle. Since he was of a young age, he had been forced to take on various, grueling crude labors in order to keep himself fed, as his mother's own income was barely enough to cover her own needs. These tasks revolved around working at the local smithy. He had been taken on as an apprentice and was payed little but gained valuable skills. Not only that, but on his spare time he would go to the dojo to train. He learned how to fight properly and was a very respectable martial artist in the village. He had started his training at the age of eight years old.
Life was stressful for both, but Annette was never shy to express that she knew that Calico was all she had, and that she loved him plenty.
That was why that the moment Calico learned that Annette was helplessly sick, he didn't hesitate to set on a journey to the Grand Line to find a cure, despite what people told him that his mom's life was pretty much a given. Instead, he left his mother to the capable hands of one of the trusted friend of Annette's, and using the help of some of his own friends, built a raft to begin his own journey to the Grand Line, vowing an oath that he would come back, with a cure for his mother, and as a famous world renowned pirate.
Calico departed from his home at the age of seventeen. Over the course of three years he had moved from one crew to another. Never permanently affiliating himself with anyone as none seemed to be benefitial to his endeavours. Some crews were lazy with little ambition. While others lacked man power, funding etc. None could help him reach his dream of wanting to travel the world.
His bounty grew in small margins over the course of his pirate career. The world government began to recognize that he was a troublesome fellow as he was seen reeking havoc with various criminal organizations. He was unpredictable in a sense. No one could pin point what course of action he'd take next. Or who he would commit a crime with. Every time the marines tried to capture Calico; he'd slip right through their fingers. Before he knew it his bounty had risen dramatically. The world had declared him to be of Supernova rank. One incident in particular was a major factor in his sizeable bounty. Calico was responsible for the destruction of a man made island used as a large marine base. The blue braid pirates who he was in cahoots with at the time had been captured. They had promised a valuable treasure map in return for him to break them free. He had help from those who were on good terms with Calico. But without his own manpower the job could not of been made possible.
The map in question was rumored to hold the location of a rare devil fruit. Calico knew that consuming this fruit would increase his power exponentially. Or at the very least he could sell it on the black market for a massive fortune.
Despite suspicion of the legitimacy of the treasure map, it did lead Calico to a devil fruit. The magu magu no mi to be exact. He had initially desired to sell the fruit rather than consume it. For the money would of benefited his mother, along with his homeland. However, a fleet of marines seeking revenge had followed them from afar. He would of been captured and executed if it were not for the fruits power. The marines were defeated by him and the blue braid pirates who had wanted to tag along. Afterwards, Calico had parted ways with them to once again travel the seas alone.

Your Good Side: Some Good Traits. Explain as much as you want.
- Brave - Calico is brave in the sense that if something needs to be done, he'll attempt it no matter the consequences.
- Ambitious - Once Calico commits himself to something or sets his goals to a certain purpose, he will not waver until he has achieved it. This is both a good and a bad personality trait as he will also stick by his bad choices, for as long as he believes that it is for the greater good.
- Caring - Calico can recognize people's feelings by their posture, facial expression and so on. Even though he will also, to some extent, feel the pain one of his friends is going through, he will always try to help them with his everlasting smile.
- Enthusiastic - The man is constantly motivated by something. He gets enthusiastic over very little things, such as the prospect of having dinner later or knowing that tomorrow, the sun will be shining. He uses these things as a motive to keep on going.
- Cheerful - Calico is always in a good mood. He is always seen whistling a song. Something as small as a gentle breeze that makes his hair wave, can make him smile. This man enjoys the small things in life.
- Tough - Calico is not one to back down from something over a little scraped knee. No, he will handle difficult situations without complaining and will stand up to anyone that gets on his bad side.
Your Bad Side: Some Bad Traits. Explain as much as you want.
- Idiocy - Calico can be quite an idiot at times. He tries to hit on any attractive female he sees, including marine officers or high-ranked government officials. It's not that women wouldn't be flattered by this but it does tend to get him in trouble often.
- Stubborn - If Calico has made his mind on something, it'll be a hell of a job to convince him otherwise.
- Rude (not always) - Calico is a little rough around the edges. He might offend without any ill intention simply by being his idiot self.
- Naive - He still believes that there are no wrong people, just good people that make bad choices. This causes him to easily be persuaded by people with foul intentions.
- Forgetful - Calico tends to forget A LOT. He manages to remember where he lives, but often tends to forget the way. He even forgets people's faces, up to the point where he didn't even recognize his nephew when talking to him.
- Easily Bored - Because of his childishness, Calico's attention span is quite short. A subject has to be really interesting for him to be able to not lose interest and wander off.
