5 GOOD TRAITS:
Optimistic
Boundless optimism is one trait Thirteen prides herself of having. Preferring to see the bright side of things, she is seemingly endlessly happy and cheerful in all situations; dire or not. She believes that she was put onto the earth with great fortunes, especially in consideration of the fate she has now as an Admiral in such high regard. Due to a certain few misfortunes at youth however, Thirteen has also learned not to take things for granted, therefore being “bright and bubbly” is her way of staying humble and faithful. Yet still, many view her happy nature as annoying, or a defense mechanism because of who she is and how she was raised.
Kind
With a heart of gold, Thirteen is capable of great depths of compassion and sympathy. Because of her childhood misfortunes, she has learned the importance of charity. Her loyalty and dedication is a formidable asset to the marines, although her indiscriminate kindness to all beings, even pirates, is what exasperates them too. Due to the belief that not all pirates are capable of evils, Thirteen chooses not to judge supposed villains with any blind-sided harshness unless they act in an accordingly hostile manner towards her or her comrades. The young admiral is also very easily moved by the distress of others, even strangers, and possesses a rare talent of unconsciously saving others from darkness. Her benevolence translates over to all aspects of her life, whether it be toward pirates, opponents in battle, or her own fleet. She also carries an incredibly big heart, able to connect with people in significant (if not strange) ways, always able to talk people out of a funk, albeit most of this “ability” is unconscious or accidental.
Sense of Justice
Loyalty, honesty, and dedication are all traits that belong to the kind Admiral. Her fervent sense of justice supplements these characteristics, as she is loyal to all those who help her. Thirteen respects the Marines greatly, and is grateful of the position she has been given in the ranks. However, the girl does realize that the fleet is riddled with problems, and for this matter, she is not completely loyal to them. Preferring to abide by her own code of justice, she will befriend a pirate and fight a marine if it means doing the ethical thing. Her responsibilities as a Admiral aren’t neglected though, and she will follow orders while at the same time, acting acutely aware of what’s right and wrong. In fact, this tendency to do what she pleases, is what agitates the Marines most of all. Her blasé attitude toward pirates comically shocks the fleet, but they recognize her reliability and admirable bushido code of law.
Intelligent
Thirteen is one of the most intelligent members of the Marines (with an IQ of 220!) Her natural penchant for math, logic, science, and problem-solving makes her a formidable foe because she simply doesn’t just fight well—she fights smart. Able to deduce the moves and secrets of her enemies with a very quick evaluation, Thirteen is feared intensely for her academia prowess. Her role as the Marines Head Scientist guarantees an outlet for her brilliance, which she uses to pour over books in her field. She holds an impressive stronghold in history, geography, physics, applied math, art history, and organic chemistry, being considered an expert in botany, anatomy, astrology, and even engineering and robotics. Her incredible memory is perfect for fact storage, and she is incredibly fast with picking up archaic learnings. However, due to her very strong magnetism towards science and other logical fields, she is often incapable of thinking abstractly or outside the box. Even while she deduces her opponent’s powers in battle, it is based on stringent math and problem-solving skills. Her incredible intelligence is thus too, somewhat of a weakness at the same time, because of her very black-and-white views of the world.
Independent
Some consider this a freak trait, but to her it is a good thing. Thirteen is staunchly independent, as shown with her unwavering sense of justice and tendency to befriend pirates. She does not generally like to abide blindly to any law, and she likes being by herself instead of hanging out in social settings. Many view her as awkward, unapproachable, intimidating, timid, or one who marches to her own drum. Because of her independence and capability to think for herself, she is a natural leader despite being very odd to her fellow Marines. This characteristic also enables her to think or create new systems in the company, or engage in progressive or controversial research and practices. Since she cares very little of what others think of her quirkiness, Thirteen is also an incredibly interesting person to get to know.
5 BAD TRAITS:
Socially Inept
Due to her incredible brilliance, complete dependence on science, and withdrawn and bookish nature, she is socially incompetent. Since she regularly chooses to study or complete research by herself in the laboratory instead of engaging in more social activities, Thirteen is somewhat of a hermit. Her fellow Marines respect and like her, recognizing her very big heart and admirable sense of justice, but are wary of her incapability of being a “normal and social” person. Thirteen’s strong intelligence in logical fields contrasts with her basically zero knowledge of pop culture, social know-how, and people-skills. This also causes her to accidentally insult people with her words, misread emotions completely, and be generally incapable of acting normal. These traits are often what make people view Thirteen as intimidating. With almost no charisma, or any grandiose nature about her, Thirteen is simply viewed in the eyes of others as a very capable, smart, and intimidating woman, with the social skills of a doorknob.
Single-minded
To Thirteen, the world is a black and white place, with no gray area. This view is partly due to her cyborg nature, and contributes to why she has such few reservations about abiding by her own code of justice instead of feeling troubled or torn. But single-mindedness contributes to her inability to express emotion, inability to read emotion, or befriend people easily. Her very stubborn and straight-forward views on life are carved from her bookish and academia-based nature, and she is completely dependent on math, science, and logic. More abstract topics like art, philosophy, and psychology are completely beyond her and amusingly, she scores a complete zero when tested in such areas. People often try to plead with Thirteen, reasoning that the world is conceptual and wonderful place of imaginative power, though the girl counters that religion is a hoax, science is the ultimate key, and phenomenon can be explained simply with laws of science.
Alexithymia
Alexithymia is a scientific term that describes a person with a state of deficiency in understanding, processing, or describing emotions. Thirteen is one with such a physiological disorder, and many even view her as slightly autistic or a sufferer of a variation of Asperger’s Syndrome. She is brilliant in all fields of logic and science, but totally and strikingly barren when it comes to detecting emotion or underlying subtleties. Thirteen is well-liked and easily-liked as well, but people note her strangeness and uncomfortable-ness with talking openly about feelings or anxieties. She has zero ability when it comes to imagination, empathy, or intuition. Although quite easily described as an emotion-less robot, the girl DOES actually have few sensibilities to anxiety, distress, happiness, and euphoria. She is limited, but not cold.
Stubborn
With the head of a bull, Thirteen has rarely ever been coerced out of a belief or philosophy. Even when people try to correct her views of a black-and-white world, Thirteen rebuffs them or is simply incapable of understanding their logic. Her sense of justice is solid as a rock, and even the Marines have grudgingly gave up on correcting her wayward kindness toward enemies of the state like pirates. When set on a course of action, she rarely likes to change or alter it, always convinced she is absolutely right. The girl doesn’t like taking advice on her scientific research, and likes to hole herself up in a room reading or engaging in academia, letting her fellow scientists and doctors slave on lesser tasks like repairs and basic robotics. Most of this stubbornness arises from her inability to understand abstract knowledge, therefore it is hard to explain a theoretical possibility to her, when she believes she has planned around.
Obsessively Compulsive
Thirteen’s fanatic desire for order, organization, and thoughtful planning in battle results in a highly strict code of conduct for her underlings. Because of her devotion to science and inability to understand abstract topics, she focuses almost exclusively on logic, to the exasperation of her company, especially after she developed a rigid order on science. She expects everyone to be punctual, neat, organized, and well-versed in all assignments, caring little about class ranks, status, or reputation. Thirteen is also prone to losing her cool when a rigid structure of her schedule is changed, or when a battle tactic must be augmented. Preparedness often becomes an obsessive priority, and the Admiral has been known to fly off the handle in domains of impromptu situations.

Light Blonde- HAIR STYLE:
Messily chopped bangs, long wispy blonde hair. Worn either down draped around her bony frame, or pulled up by ribbon into two side-pigtails.- DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:
Thirteen dons a pair of small wings on her back, due to genetic engineering. They grant her the capabilities of flight, and somewhat create a sense of angelic innocence, although that may be a little oversaid. Also cyborg, her left arm and right leg are entirely prosthetics, built with superior and state-of-the-art robotics. In fact, most of her body is equipped with expensive and top of the line weaponry, and many of them are very safely guarded secrets. Because she likes to engage in research and experimentation, Thirteen has made many modifications to her original model mechanics. Without having to be said, she still maintains the face and body of a normal human, though people know she being part cyborg, her modifications are regardless well hidden.
INVENTORY:
Because most of Thirteen's weaponry are already embedded into her as a cyborg, she carries few militaristic objects.
- Sewing kit
- Medicinal Needles
- Anti-venom
- Hand-held Reference book
- Journal
- PREFERRED CLOTHING:
Thirteen generally likes to dress professionally and neutrally, with a collared white shirt, cardigan or suit jacket, a tie, and military garb. Being rather conservative in appearance, the girl also favors tight-fitting gear like leggings, boots, and unobtrusive combat gear. Her favorite colors are black and white and she dresses accordingly. But the most striking element of her attire must be a Navy Admiral long white coat (a sign of prestige after all) with a folded back collar and a billowing tail that touches the floor because of her puny size. Most that see her at first glance note a noble aura but few immediately recognize her as an Admiral.History //
First Regeneration
In the dawn of times, a legendary and independent researcher/doctor named Dr. Eponine made a daring scientific move which cemented him as a prestigious yet mentally psychotic member of the academic field. In a well-guarded prisoner of war camp, a young girl just born was stripped away from a mother and taken to the doctor for his grand experiment. After 7 days and 7 nights, the blonde-haired unnamed girl had already begun the first stages of augmentation, beginning with a series of genetic mutational engineering.
This was not to say that creation number Thirteen was Dr. Eponine’s first attempt at human mutational science. After twelve prior failed attempts, he settled on a test subject that appeared to possess all the necessary traits to withstand such brutal machinations. When number Thirteen accepted the mutations into her genetic build-up, the first step had finally been a success. The shady doctor’s actions were frowned upon and even caused fear within the world, but in the secret realm of political prison #4309, he had no qualms to do as he pleased. The next few years were spent slowly modifying the genetics of the girl’s body who had thereafter simply been referred to as “Thirteen.” She was implanted with wings, her eyes gouged and replaced with high-tech robotic seers, limbs armed and disarmed with complicated machinery. However, one thing Dr. Eponine appeared to continue to stumble with was the very intricate process of humanizing the cyborg which had been raised as a robot and lost all of her human capabilities since birth.
The actions of the doctor were not unnoticed by the wary Marines, who finally were able to secure the location of the prison camp, effectively shutting it down. They took a peculiar interest in the cyborg girl and realized the promise such a being could bring. Offering the doctor an ultimatum, the Marines would finance his every move and quirk for the exchange of working under Marine orders and jurisdiction. Dr. Eponine had little choice—with the prison shut down and his lab destroyed, he needed a way to finance his expensive little habit. The man took his prized invention and moved deep into Marine territory.
A new team of doctors had been put into place to aid the new Head Scientist, Dr. Eponine of the Marine Corp. They were collectively referred to as “Eponine Laboratory 6”, a class of strange characters indeed. Each of the doctors had all had connections with genetic engineering, many of whom had been test subjects themselves. With an arsenal of experts and an endless cash flow, Dr. Eponine set on his most desired goal: to humanize his prized subject. The process was complicated and dangerous, but in time, Thirteen began regaining many human-like characteristics; loyalty, kindness, and intellect. Abstract ideas had been an attempt, but Eponine Laboratory 6 could not implant these capabilities upon Thirteen. Ultimately, she grew into an intellectually fabled and powerful machine, primed to do the bidding of the Marines.
The fleet was acutely aware of one major issue: consciousness and awareness. The girl had now developed her own set of morals and ideals, and luckily, they were not at ends with those of the Marines. The doctors were careful in their experimentation, cautiously making sure that any negative or contrasting characteristic had not been taught to Thirteen. Despite her shortcomings, she was brought up quite normally as a child, even beside the peculiar fact that she aged significantly slower than a normal human due to manipulated cell regeneration. The original model, or “regeneration” as the scientists referred to, was completely altruistic, loyal, and staunchly dependent on the Marines for orders. In fact, her severe willingness to serve the fleet caused a bit of concern for Dr. Eponine, who was aware that she could be used as a weapon of mass destruction if her complexities were exploited. Fearing such a possibility, Dr. Eponine risked his tail and sent the girl away into the capable hands of an old friend: Captain Aulaires of the Aulaires Pirate Crew.
Second Regeneration
Before Thirteen was sent off, her machinations were disabled, and her weaponry completely disarmed. What was artificial about her remained embedded in her cells. She was now as human as she could possibly be, amongst an old pirate crew. The doctor had entrusted her to the hands of his dearest friend, old Captain Aulaires, who was a soft sea dog than a bloodthirsty pirate. Dr. Eponine desired for the girl to become more humanized, and less of a servant to the state. If she could develop a more independent persona that did not fall prey to the wicked demands of the Marines, perhaps her status as a lethal weapon could be averted. The adjustment was quick however, and she was soon forgetting her time in the lab, and enjoying a grotesquely liberating lifestyle at sea.
It is during the Second Regeneration Thirteen would later recall to be the happiest of her life. She was renamed “Mifune” by the Captain and accepted readily into the crew, which mostly preyed on other pirate ships and not merchant vessels. The girl developed a personality as a steadfast, optimistic, kind, and intelligent thinker, pouring herself over books and robotics instead of swashbuckling action. In fact, she would also be later assigned as the ship’s lead engineer, able to fix up any bind in a matter of quick thinking. The girl was well-aware of her life in the lab though, and she realized that the Marines were still on the hunt for her after her disappearance. Eponine Laboratory 6 was in a tight fix, though the fleet knew better than to execute its members because of the intricate knowledge they possessed about their human weapon Thirteen. While confined in Impel Down, the doctors settled upon not knowing the fate of their girl-cyborg, putting their faith in Cpt. Aulaires’ hands.
Third Regeneration
Thirteen’s location was soon painstakingly tracked by the Marines, and at that time, she had fully progressed into a conscious thinker, the very Thirteen the fleet knows today. The ingenuity of her mind allowed her to brainstorm a way for her crew of pirates to escape. Pledging their forever friendship and placing faith in the bonds made, Thirteen left the crew, deciding to turn herself into the Marines, wishing not to risk the ire of the fleet any longer. Her return prompted a complete overhaul of the Scientific Department, and she was immediately sent into a coma state for repairs and rearmament, against Dr. Eponine’s wishes. Scientific advances and new methods of biological engineering gave Thirteen a complete new set of powers. Although her consciousness and distinct new set of codes became indelible, the Marines were content on building a master cyborg once more, this time in high security and state of the art fashion.
Thirteen was brutally militarized, being mechanically trained in prestigious fighting processes and built upon for the next couple of decades. Due to her slow aging, she was able to build upon years and years of learned knowledge that gave her the experience of a legend. “Third Regeneration” combined the efforts of the two prior regenerations and concocted a conscious yet powerful being. By this stage of her existence, Dr. Eponine had passed, along with the entire Eponine Laboratory 6. Albeit their destruction was mysterious, and Thirteen is still convinced of some sort of wrong-doing by the hands of the Marines, she has carefully accepted that fate. The Eponine Laboratory 6 was not replaced however, as Thirteen had grown to head the Science Department of the Marinal Corp herself, the years of learning fermenting her into an extremely abled-researcher and developer.
Third Regeneration has lasted the longest: it encompasses more than half of Thirteen’s entire existence of 140-some odd years. Her careful and deliberate development inside the Marines has allowed her to progress through the ranks as an actual officer instead of a scientific anomaly. Slowly but surely, she was promoted to the rank of Admiral. By this stage in life, the girl is well-adjusted and has seemingly lost many of her mechanical quirks, completely humanized (Strangely so, but humanized nonetheless). Her status as a legend is cemented, after more than a century of existence. But because of the complete secrecy of the Marines, this status is little-known outside the World Government.
MISC //
What drives you:
Thirteen is driven by science. Not much motivates her except for the drive to create and build because of her fixation with robotics and engineering, most of which is based on her own status as a cyborg. The girl is also very riveted by a strong sense of justice, however this is simply a part of her character, not a drive.
Her inner struggles encompasses her fear of a cyborg and part-human life. Because of the humanization she has undergone, she feels she is a breathing and conscious being, but she knows she can never reach a full level of humanity.
