MINORU SAT on the hard floor of the Black Moon Pirate ship's deck, staring at his katana. He thought of how he had come to get the katana and of his days with the Marines. Thinking back of the days when his father was still alive, Minoru couldn't help but feel a little nostalgic. Being a Vice Admiral's son granted you special privileges, which were almost fully lost after his father's death. He knew that his captain would not approve of such thoughts, and he reminded himself that he hated the Marines. Trying to distract himself, he looked up at the sky and thought of what would be happening tonight.
Captain Rei had, in her glorious way, chosen him to assist her with a little midnight mission. They were to hijack a passing trading ship and steal it. He did not know who had told her about the ship, or if she was doing it by her own choice- but he did know that she was his captain, so he would be doing whatever she told him to.
Minoru stood up from the ground and stared into the dark night, trying to see any nearby ships with his eyes alone. He had to keep on the lookout, because seeing as they were in the East Blue, there were obviously rookie ships lurking about. Not like they would be a problem for them, but it was always good to know about them first rather than the other way round.
Truth be told, he was rather excited about the task. Perhaps the ship would have some valuable treasure. It had been a long time since Minoru had found happiness with wealth, and it was something that brought him joy. With that treasure, assuming he got to keep it, he could live his luxurious life once more. Who says you can't be a pirate and be luxurious?
Becoming impatient, Minoru called out for his captain. Wherever she was, he had expected her to be outside and waiting with the same eagerness as he. Just as he was about to head inside and look for her, he saw a small ship coming in their direction from the rear. It was a lot less than he had expected it to be. It wasn't horribly tiny, but about half the size of the Black Moon ship. It probably had only two levels, a lower deck and the top deck. He expected that everyone was sleeping down in the lower deck, leaving their ship completely unguarded. The top deck seemed to be empty, but he managed to make out the little trap doors on the floor. Aha!, he thought.
Eager and happy, Minoru said clearly, "Cherry Blossom Beauty, the ship has arrived!" |

Instead, she was lying on the back on the roof of her quarters and watching the night sky, silently keeping the time while the rest of the crew kept lookout for the ship. The plan was hardly complex, but would be effective enough for what they needed to obtain. Using the cover of darkness, the ship would keep it's distance and Rei would use her abilities to create an ice bridge that would allow them to intercept the passing ship and sneak aboard. Once on the ship, they would get the drop on any lookouts and take the ship. By the time the crew had awoken to realized they had been boarded, the fight would be over and they wouldn't need to waste a single round of gunfire. True, it was entirely common for most pirates to simply unload their cannons on any ship that fell into their sights and rip through anyone that opposed them with swords in some long, bloody and drawn out battle, but that was not how Rei operated. No, the Captain learned a long time ago that those sorts of attacks proved far to destructive. What they needed was money and there was a good amount of it to be had, not only in the treasures in the ship, but also as the ship itself. Ships could be stripped down and sold for parts or sold as a whole for even bigger profit, if one was sharp enough to swindle a reasonable excuse. Ammunition was also expensive and it was counter productive to waste so much of it in battle, particularly when their were much easier methods. The faint noise of someone calling her caused the Captain to sit up lazily, though she immediately recognized the address. Minoru was the only person on the ship that called her by that nickname, but she wanted him on this little venture for two reasons. One reason was his abilities with a sword, which would be useful in close quarters combats. The other reason was due to the stigma of being an ex-Marine that could occasionally make some of the crew a little wary of him. To kill two birds with one stone, Rei decided it was time to let the swordsman cut his teeth and demonstrate the traits that had caused her to bring him back in the first place. By the time it was over, it would settle once and for all that he could be trusted and they could continue their journey without any hesitations over who Minoru was taking orders from. Sitting up lazily, Rei soon managed to catch sight of the ship and hopped down onto the deck next to the swordsman to get a better view of the ship's direction. Of course, the pirate's ship would follow at a safe distance, just in case anything went wrong. However, she needed to calculate the right distance to intercept perfectly, as any error could be troublesome and ruin the plan entirely. If the path was to far away, then they ran the risk of missing the ship and possibly getting caught out in the open on the sea with no defense. If the icy path was to close, the target might graze against the ice and coming from the North Blue, Rei knew first hand what hitting an iceberg did to the ship. Aside from causing damage to the ship, it would more than likely awaken the crew and they could be outnumbered before they had managed to take the ship. Given that there was no moon out, it seemed somewhat ominously fitting, although in reality was simply another factor in Rei's calculations. "Alright, you all know the plan. Once I give the signal, head for the ship and don't doddle. Stay low and once your reach the ship, survey the area before taking out anyone on guard duty. I'll follow from behind and disperse the ice once everyone in aboard. We'll be on our own, so no commotions, am I clear?" Rei explained seriously, giving instructions one final time to make sure everyone knew what the plan was. They could not afford for this to go wrong. There was to much at stake and to avoid the cost of bloodshed, it was absolutely necessary that act with utmost discretion. Hopping up onto the railing of the ship, Rei waited a moment and taking a final measurement, soon dropped down towards the ocean beneath them. "Glacial Freeze." The ocean beneath soon turned into a thick layer of ice that swiftly crawled it's way across the waves and seeming to stop them in place as it made it's way towards the path of the approaching ship. Raising a hand over her shoulder, the Captain soon dropped it forward in a motion that seemed to signal that it was time for them to move. The ice was thick enough to hold them, but it was slick if one wasn't cautious and there were only so many things that Rei could account for. Now, it seemed the plan rested with her crew and how good they were at following orders.
