Demi-Golem: Dependent on primary race of demi-golem
[/li][li]Average life span: 80000 to 100000 years (elder-golems) 10,000 years (demi-golems)
[/li][li]Native To: N/A (mostly found in ruins around world)
[/li][li]Special Abilities:
Elder Golems: Elder Golems, aside from generally possessing the massive size and strength of giants, are also capable of using, installing and "evolving" powerful, ancient and advanced golem technology into their body. They are also capable of altering their body mass/volume (AKA their size) and even taking on a "human" form with advanced shapeshifting techniques. Elder Golems, effectively being "mechs" also possess a resistance to biological agents, but a weakness to strong electrical energy and interference, which can dampen their abilities. Golems are also capable of communicating, reading and writing in the complex "golem language".
Demi-Golems: Demi-Golems share the same traits as whatever their primary race is with a few differences once they achieve "ignition": as a result of the genetic makeup changes, the demi-golems gain an overall increase in physical and mental abilities immediately after ignition and slowly over time. They also gain the ability to enter a "golem" state, in essence transforming their biological body into an advanced mechanical "golem" body. As a result, howver, once a golem achieves "ignition", they lose any devil fruit abilities they once had and can no longer gain abilities from devil fruit's consumption. Demi-golems gain the ability to commuincate, read and write in the complex language of the golems once their genetic code is activated.
[/li][li]Physical Traits/Morphology:
the Golems are a mysterious and exceedingly complex race. The information below has been gathered after many painstaking years of research into the subjects. As such, it may not reflect all that is to be known about the golem race.
The morphs are as follows:
origin form: A rare and highly unusual sight, the origin form is not what one would think of when the name "golem" is spoken about these creatures. Appearing as little more then a large, transparent "core" (that can vary largely in shape) containing a liquid substance (that appears to be highly variable in color from golem to golem) this form may not seem like a form of intelligent life at first observation.
Nothing could be further from the truth.
The Golem ,even in this form, is highly aware of its surroundings through the use of emitting ultrasonic "haki" pulses that behave in a similar manner to the way bats utilize ultrasound. Although vulnerable (and somewhat fragile) It hovers roughly five to ten feet above the ground and is capable of moving at EXTREMELY high speeds, some have been clocked at moving up to 150mph when threatened. It is unclear how the golems sustain this form or communicate with each other. Golems in their origin form are perhaps one of the rarest and most unusual sights, and bids for them on the black market have been started as high as 10 billion beli, as demand for the mysterious creatures is high thanks to the staggering scientific applications behind it. Obviously, however, due to the elusiveness of the creatures its exceedingly difficult (if not impossible) to capture one without pure, dumb luck.
golem form: The aptly named "Golem" form is the form in which most golems are encountered, and is the reason they have been given their name. While no one has observed exactly how an origin golem enteres the titular "golem" state, it is believed that an origin golem reaches this state by "fusing" inorganic matter together to somehow form a body.
While the process is not known, the result is shocking: the once seemingly harmless orb becomes an autonomous, moving mass of inorganic parts that often take a humanoid shape. The first recorded encounter with one was when a marine exploration force had found an origin golem fused with several tons of boulders and rocks patrolling the outskirts of
It is unclear what level of intelligence golems have, though it is believed that they have some way of communicating via the use of haki. This is made harder by the fact that when one of the said golems dies, its core and any inorganic matter dissolve into ash, making any sort of autopsy impossible.
Elder Golems: According to information learned from an undisclosed source codenamed
Elder Golems can, like their predecessor forms, vary greatly in combat capacity. Their overall strength and speed (in their normal form) has a baseline similar to that of a giant. what varies is each Elder golem's unique abilities at their full size and their "Smaller" human size. So far, with the information about golems and their abilities that have been learned, they have been given "Grade" designations based on their strength and overall abilities. The following are designations, from lowest to highest:
Alpha: Alpha class elder golems are the weakest, and generally considered not that much stronger then your average regular golem. While they are still a threat, the relative threat they pose to a powerful individual or an organized group of individuals is relatively minor, as these golems lack the armament, combat intelligence/experience and the abilities to do serious harm beyond the use of their size and strength.
Beta: Beta class golems are a step above alpha, but are only considered mildly hazardous to a powerful individual or an organized group, they still do represent a quantifiable threat. While they only have limited combat intelligence/experience and armament, its still enough to make the unwary warrior or foolish person pay for underestimating them.
gamma: Gamma class golems are where these beings start to become a threat to even the most battle hardened warriors. At this point, the elder golem likely has a solid understanding of its abilities and a fair shake of combat experience and intelligence. Its armaments also start to become more threatening with powerful projectile and melee weaponry which, along with their ability to control their size, can make gamma-class elder golems difficult to manage.
Delta: Delta-class golems are the cream of the crop, and a confrontation with one merits, if not demands, respect to the immense powers that these creatures hold. A Delta-class golem is strong even by the standard of its peers, has a high degree of combat experience/intelligence, and its weapons are deadly, ranging from advanced projectile/bladed weapons to low-grade energy weapons/ "barrier" weapons (melee weapons utilizing energy barriers for a sharp, powerful blade as opposed to a conventional material blade). Delta-golems, at one point in golem history, were considered to be a rank that parallels that of a vice-admiral in the golem military hierarchy.
Epsilon: Epsilon class golems are considered to be the strongest type of normal elder golem, and these beings should be treated with the respect that brings. These golems are some of the most advanced and powerful golems in existence, possessing an unparalleled level of combat experience/intelligence and some of the most advanced energy weapons/ barrier weapons in existence, some beyond the scope of technology that even the world government understands. Epsilon golems are the rough equivalent of an "admiral" ranking in golem military hierarchy.
Sigma class: Sigma class golems are the highest possible potential an elder golem can reach. These golems are at the pinnacle of evolution that is achievable by the golem race, and their abilities are reflected as such. They possess not only an incredible level of intelligence and knowledge of golem and wold history, but technology that vastly overshadows anything seen or understood by the most advanced levels of current science. Sigma-class golems were the "fleet admirals" of the golem military hierarchy. There are a limited number of members of this elite group, and they are only known by name. They are:
-Asgard, the Quartz Knuckle
-Orpheus, the Bulwark
-Vulcan, the Iron Typhoon
- UNKNOWN (reserved)
- UNKNOWN (open!)
- UNKNOWN (open!)
- UNKNOWN (open!)
Omega class(npc only, plot restricted): The omega class golem is a golem class that, ordinarily, would not exist in golem evolutionary data. However, as of recent reports and from information that was received from a source that will remain anonymous, the omega class was created to describe one golem in particular: a golem that is identified as a traitor who almost brought an end to all of his kind untold eons ago.
The omega class is, quite frankly, something that is even beyond the understanding of most golem knowledge itself, let alone mankind's understanding. That being said, it is without a doubt one of the strongest beings in existence, and even a single golem of this class, even if not hostile, represents a great threat to civilization itself. Omega class golems not only have a combat capacity far beyond anything that is known to mankind, but also has access to powers that may not even seem possible. Reports have indicated that Omega class golems can cause atmospheric disturbances by mere presence, and can even call upon powerful, forbidden technology designed to cause destruction, chaos and death on an unthinkable scale. The omega class golem could perhaps only be described as the embodiment of destruction: where it goes, the ruin of all things shall follow. Thus far, there is only one golem who has ever achieved this level of power (and the price of such a thing was nearly the entire existence of his kind):
-Atlas, the Invincible World-shaker
Demi-Golems: A mysterious species known to be related to the golems, demi-golems are perhaps one of the least understood races in the world. Believed to be born from the union of a golem and another race (through a method that isn't yet understood) Demi-golems take on the shape and morph of the said race's mother, and biological functions seem to remain the same. However, aside from that the demi-golems physiology seems slightly different. although no dissection of a demi-golem has ever been done (they disintegrate upon death) it is hypothesized that their internal bodily structure has many deviations from a normal biological being's body structure, yet maintains the same function. The result seems to be that demi-golems have much more efficient bodies then whatever race they are disguised as by itself.
Demi-golems also possess abilities thought to only be usable by the elder golems. They have the ability to access, manipulate and utilize golem technology to its fullest without need for reverse engineering/modification, and speak/write the golem's language fluently with little practice. It is believed (though not confirmed) that the demi-golems have the knowledge of the golems locked within their genetics and body, and that is why they are able to learn so much about the golems so quickly. It could be argued that their knowledge is just as much "unlocked" as it is learned.
That being said, the amount known about the demi-golems beyond this is extremely limited. Even a source that divulged a great deal of information about the golems refused to give information about this golem sub-species, citing that to do so would put not only the demi-golems in jeopardy, all other sentient beings. This is a very understandable statement, for even the limited information learned about these mysterious beings indicates that they are a "missing link" of sorts between golems and humanoid races, and that what could be learned by studying them in-depth could change the very course of humankind's evolution.
It should be noted that these beings are not always easy to identify, especially since that many are not even aware that they are Demi-golems in the first place. these beings are born "inert", in that their genetic potential and abilities as a demi-golem are not active. In this state, the demi-golem is completely indistinguishable from a normal humanoid of their race. The only difference is believed to be on the genetic level, where a special "code" for demi-golems exists. At a certain point in the demi-golem's life, when certain conditions are met, the demi-golem "awakens", and the latent genetic code within the being activates with startling effects:
The demi-golem, upon activation of this genetic code, immediately beings two processes referred to by elder golems as "ignition" and "alteration". "Ignition" is immediate and startling changes to a demi-golems internal structure from the normal humanoid format to the more efficient demi-golem one, possibly unlocking several powers and increasing the demi-golems overall abilities relative to its humanoid form.
The second process, known as "Alteration", is slower and much more subtle in nature, but its overall changes are just as drastic. Gradually, over time, the demi-golem's genetic code will completely change to the new format, causing untold and largely unknown changes to the demi-golem without actually changing its outward appearance (in most cases). Alteration increases the power of the abilities gained from Ignition, and may or may not positively or negatively effect abilities the demi-golem had before the massive genetic changes caused by ignition.
It is unclear what stimuli, both from outside and within the golem, trigger these two processes, but it is hypothesized that extremely traumatic emotional distress and physiological changes (IE: injuries and or certain aspects of aging such a puberty) increase the probability of ignition occurring. It is believed that this process is rare enough that many demi-golems may go their entire lives without realizing what they are, and may live relatively normal lives without ever realizing the incredible potential they hold.
[/li][li]Common Enemies:[/i] In their natural habitat (if such a thing exists for Golems) the golems have no natural predators largely due to the inanimate and mechanical nature. They seem to exist outside the normal ecosystem of whatever environment they are placed in, and are mostly passive being that only attack when threatened. Even much larger predatory creatures seem to act much more passively or even actively avoid golems. Its hypothesized that Golems have a way of intimidating these beings (even beings such as sea kings) through the use of haki or some other unknown means.
In the case of the sentient Elder Golems, they have exhibited extremely limited (if any) hostility toward any major civilizations and/or organized bodies of government, but are considered a grave threat to criminal elements due to the elder golem's natural combat prowess and their kind's general dislike of criminal activity. In particular, aggressiveness toward non-hostile golems and demi-golems is considered a well-known trigger of elder golem hostility.
Demi-Golems have the same predators as their primary race, with one major addition: both the slave elements of pirates and the less savory aspects of the world government (IE the world nobles) prey upon this group with extreme prejudice and desire. They are perhaps one of (if not the) most demanded beings of the slave trade, with male demi-golems having a base value of roughly 100 milion beli (as they are seen as having incredible potential for a variety of research and as slaves in general, especially bodyguards) and female demi-golems having perhaps the highest known base-value of any slave at an astonishing 15 billion beli base value (For a gigantic list of reasons, many relating for their believed use as the perfect "breeder/mate" and/or the belief that they have much more inherited knowledge in exchange for slightly less combat ability).
[/li][li]History:[/b] The golems are, according to what we know the "guardians of sentient life". They were created untold eons ago by an unknown race whom they refer to as "those that came before" at some point just before this creator race suffered an unknown even that lead to their sudden extinction. Left to their own devices, the golems set out to build their society and fulfill their created purpose: to guide evolution and ensure the safety of sentient life on the planet. To this end, the golems were very successful, having a civilizations spanning hundreds of thousands of years and many generations.
However, it was not to be. For not all golems were as benign as they were intended to have been created.
At some point in the ancient past, a golem known as "Atlas", a member of the highest governing body of the golem people, set in motion a chain of events that lead to the near destruction of the golem race. This event was believed to revolve around a force that the golems refer to as the "Omni-System", and remains something that most elder golems have, thus far, refused to discuss with other races.
As it stands now, Golems exist as a mysterious race outside the normal boundries of both pirate and world government society. They lack any known organized body or government that governs them, and every single golem below that of an elder is believed to not have the intelligence capacity to be anything but an anomaly to the civilized world. To date, however, no elder-golem has publicly been known to associate or support a government, though rumors circulate that they (and also even more elusive demi-golems) will work with specific pirate or marine crews under certain conditions.
[/li][li]OOC Rules:
-Golems of any kind CANNOT use devil fruit abilities. Consuming a devil fruit will have no effect on a golem other then making it sick to its stomach (or whatever the golem equivalent is to it). Demi-Golems will lose any devil fruit powers once "ignition" occurs and their golem-DNA activates
-Elder-Golems and demi-golems CANNOT use rokushiki or possess Haki, due to incompatibility with their phisiology.
-Elder-golems have a slight weakness to strong electrical forces, and electrical interference can slightly weaken their abilities.
+Elder-Golems have absolute resistance to poisons/body altering agents and influences, due to their mechanical physiology. Demi-Golems gain a medium resistance once ignition occurs, which can reach a medium resistance as they age.
+Elder Golems have the ability to change their size and mass from that of a giant (their natural state) to that of a normal person and in-between.
+Demi-Golems, once "ignition" occurs, can tap into their golem bloodline and transform into a completely mechanical body. In this state, their overall abilities are significantly increased.
+Female Demi-Golems can "pass" their expanded lifespan ability (10,000 years) and seemingly lasting youth onto others through tranfusions or, uh, "intimate physical interactions".
